The playing card that I chose is the 7 of hearts and represents the 7 of hearts playing card. In this card I measured 49 hearts at a height of 3 inches and connected them separately to form flowers. I used pastels of red, pink, and purple. I used a pattern because some of the hearts are stacked above each other, so i used to a pattern to really emphasize that.
A problem of mine was when I used pastels it smudged a lot and made a little mess in the background. So I struggled for what I wanted to do for a background. I and the teacher (you) decided that modge podging using tissue paper would make a great background on the playing card and stick out well. I ended up fixing my problem.
I was very happy will the overall project. I thought it was very successful because I followed all the requirements on the rubric I thought. And I took a great risk using tissue paper, because I didn't want all the colors to clash, but they all blended excellent together.
CHESS PIECE
I chose to sculpture a dove. I decided to be "the good guy" piece, and dove are considered good and peaceful birds. I had a major problem making this bird. The original bird broke in half and fell apart, and was basically impossible to hot glue back together. So the only way of solving the problem was to start all over again. Luckily nothing else happened and the bird told out alright, and I am happy with the clay piece.
TAPE MURAL
Reghan, Rikki, and I all worked into a group and together made an outer space scene out of different tape. I don't know where the idea came into place, but it sounded cool and definitely looked cool. We didn't have any problem, but we took it apart several times to make it look perfect. But that was our choice to do. And we accomplished to make it look how we wanted it too.
I chose for my pencil drawing to make a turtle. I love animals, and I thought drawing a turtle would be the easiest to draw. I actually drew this picture for my mom because her favorite animal is turtles, and she collects them, so just adding this picture to her collection. A huge problem with drawing this was it was very time consuming. It literally took me over a month to draw! It was hard to try to make all the pencils look vert realistic and try to make them look waxy and to stick out. Overall though, I thought I did a pretty good job, I actually thought it was going to look worse. But I did finally finish it, and I think it looks great.
I decided to make a vase because it seemed like an easy transformation. I first boiled the water and poured hot water into the vase and did that repeatedly till the wax cleared out. Then I decided to use tissue paper and design the bottle out of it. I used modge podge to make it stick and give it a shine glassy look to it. I worked on it over the whole weekend and it took me a few hours to finish, but I never had a problem designing the vase.
This canvas reflects my life because all the pictures represent me somehow. Some of the pictures are actually pictures of me, and my friends. I also mentioned a lot of quotes on there because I live by a lot of the quotes and try to have all that positivity in my life. It helps me realize that I need to live my life with being able to believe and have hope. Also, with the foam spelling out the word life, it represents how it's all pieced together just how my life is. In addition to designing the whole canvas that was based off with my creativity as well.
My vision tool is this Michigan State bank. I chose to create a bank out of a can of peanuts. It's a reminder of how I really want to get into college really badly there. It's a really big goal of mine, to become a physical therapist there. Through out High School, i'm going to start to save up money every time I have some extra change and try to save my money.
==Final Writing Assignment:==
All writing is in complete sentences, with proper grammar and punctuation. NO LOWER CASE "i"s! A minimum 3 sentences each, for each writing prompt.
Reflect on your "journey" over the past semester. How have you grown artistically and/or creatively? I've grown artistically a lot over this past semester. My creativity has expanded with being able to recreate projects and transform them into something else. I have always had an excellent idea of being able to instantly decide what I want to make when given an idea to do a project. I've been able to "think outside the box" and actually visualize what I can do and how I'm going to do it. I've had a lot of successful projects, and i'm proud of everything that I have made this year.
Which project do you believe was your most successful and why? I think my most successful project i've made is my life story. It really has a meaning and represents something to do with me and my personality. I created and designed myself, showing my artistic side, but painting the canvas and using a color beading border which turned out looking great. I matted down and collaged all these pictures that symbolize my life. For instance, the pictures of my friends and I, and I also included a lot of quotes because I try to live my life in positivity and that is an instant reminder for me. Also with using foam to spell out the word life, was very creative because we had to piece them together to make it look like the word, and it's like how my life is, trying to piece it all together. The overall process looked great, and I was really proud of myself. Also with others, it's the project that I got the most compliments on so it's probably the one that looked the coolest to others.
Discuss the importance of developing and promoting creativity in school. In my opinion, I believe having creativity in school is really important. It's good to have your mind set on basic academic subjects and to be focused on getting good grades. But being able to know how to be creative is really good because there are a lot of jobs that require you to be imaginative. I think art class is also a really fun class to just take a break for scholastic subjects and to just express yourself and have a good time. I love art class, it's the only class that I look forward to having it.
Discuss the importance of creativity ("Right Brain Thinking" according to Daniel Pink) in the up-and-coming job market. Daniel Pink is the person who actually has a good way of predicting the future of having all manufactured and regular jobs, turn into all creative jobs. Like for instance, all jobs now are turning into technology, and all of that is getting more complicated and more advanced. And for being able to do that, you need to create that. Also, problem solving is the biggest learning tool as well, and is something that requires some right brain thinking and being able to be creative and solve.
